Tree project leaves submitted and now working on ArtFire

http://www.internationalfibercollaborative.com/html/treeproject.html
Here's a photo of the leaves I submitted for this project. My goal was to recycle a fiber material. I chose the plastic polyethylene twine used for hay bales to illustrate the point that, no matter what, plastic gets into our environment. This type of twine used to be made of sisal and hemp and would biodegrade over time. Now we have to deal with these plastic fibers for a long time-in these garish (unnatural) colors, ick. There is also a blatent use of hot glue used like raindrops (tears is more like it). So, these leaves get mixed in with all the fabulous natural fiber leaf creations-just like in the environment.
I've been updating my ArtFire.com on-line studio. It's a site similar to Etsy.com that I think will be good for Wovenpaint products. Here's the link for you to check it out. If you're an artist, it may be a good option for you as well.

I've been spending time selling stuff on eBay-but want/need to get back to my artistic creations. This is what keeps
me calm and grounded...now I'll use my familiar natural fibers and yarns for my work again.

Here's a photo of a woven piece I had woven on a jacquard loom from a photo of a rice paste textile design that I created. Pixels to weaves, cool!

Welcome to my new blog

Welcome!
Since I've started a website and a Facebook page, now I've branched out to a blog as well!
So...I'm working from my home studio after having a public one for two years. It's a bit of an adjustment, but the overhead is much more manageable, that's for sure.

Having a business is a great learning experience that I've really enjoyed, but now I know how hard it is to be creative and run a business at the same time. Right brain vs. Left brain-argh!
I'll use this blog to write about things of interest to me-that I hope others will find inspiration from as well.
I love creativity and art in general, and textile arts in particular. I teach art and textile workshops and classes locally-my forte is weaving and color. I've been a part of the textile industry after earning a BFA in Textile Design. I enjoy passing my knowledge and experience on to young people who are also interested in art and textiles. Another thing I do is help students put together their art portfolios for college submission.
For my first item of interest, I've chosen an interesting website to check out...enjoy!
